The Scarborough Trio is a talented and dynamic young ensemble that is delighting audiences throughout the country with their distinctive sound and engaging performances. With the unique combination of flute, bassoon, and piano, the ensemble “displays exquisite musical taste and impressive technique” (Yellow Springs News). The trio recently won Second Prize at the 2006 Yellow Springs National Chamber Music Competition, and was awarded the Silver Medal at the 2004 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. In February 2003, the trio gave their professional debut concert at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall as winners of the Artists International NY Jury Debut Award.
The Scarborough Trio actively performs throughout the New York City area and has been heard on the "Concerts at One" series at Trinity Church, the “Sunday Recital Series” at St. John the Divine, at the Salmagundi Club, and the Goethe Institut where they were presented by American Landmark Festivals. They have also been presented by the composers collective Wet Ink, in a performance of new works written specifically for the Trio. In addition, the group works for Hospital Audiences, Inc., an organization that brings music into hospitals, nursing homes, and senior centers throughout the city.
The ensemble has performed extensively throughout the country. In 2005, they toured the Midwestern United States through Allied Concert Services, and will embark on two additional tours during the 2007-08 season. Other highlights include the Young Artists Series at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, FL, the FORUM Chamber Music Series in Banner Elk, NC, and the Island Concert Association Series on Simon’s Island, GA. They have performed several recitals throughout CA including the North Orange County Concert Association’s Chamber Series in Fullerton. A proponent of educational outreach, the ensemble has presented programs at numerous schools and colleges including Cal State Long Beach, Citrus College, and Chapman University.
The Scarborough Trio has been a two-time feature on WQXR's "Young Artists Showcase" with Bob Sherman. They have appeared on several live radio broadcasts as well, including the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series on Chicago’s WFMT, and WXXI’s “Live at Hochstein” in Rochester, NY. They have also been seen on Westchester television broadcasts and NJ’s public access channel TV-36.
